Rochelle Roots : Professional Speaker

Rochelle is a dynamic speaker, author, poet, mentor and community leader. Her speaking style has often been described as “dramatic, incredible, powerful and insightful.” She is a firm believer that your past does not dictate your future. She often says, “You must change the way you think so you can change the way you live.” She personally knows the power of a transformed mind.

Growing up poor in the projects of Robstown, Texas, was just the beginning of a difficult childhood for this Latina. In addition to a chaotic home life due to her then alcoholic father, Rochelle was sexually abused for years as a child. This abuse literally warped her mind and crushed her self-worth. She hid behind her shyness to cover the shame, guilt and unworthiness she felt. However, at 15 years old, through her rededicated faith, she learned to renew her way of thinking and change her life from the inside out. Rochelle is passionate about equipping women and teen girls to live transformed lives of wholeness, victory and purpose and in doing so, challenges them live to make a difference for others.

Rochelle is the founder and President of Living the Life Ministries, a non-profit organization, which consists an interdenominational group of women that serve their community through various conferences, retreats, workshops, and outreach events. She is also part of the EAS team who created and wrote the iShine Latina educational curriculum, which is designed to motivate, equip and empower young Latinas to be intentional and successful in every aspect of their lives. The program instills a healthy self-image in young Latinas and encourages them to draw strength from their culture, develop positive networking skills and mentor relationships, to believe and fight for their dreams, and pursue higher education.

Part of Rochelle’s mission is to promote unity within her community and motivate volunteer service for positive change. In November, 2007 she spearheaded the biggest three day youth outreach in the history of Corpus Christi, Texas held at the American Bank Center which involved over 25 churches and 350 volunteers. In October, 2009 Rochelle released her first book entitled Living It Up!, where she inspires life change by focusing inward and then outward through four lifestyle keys (1) New Life Living, (2) Intentional Living, (3) Sacrificial Living and (4) Supernatural Living.

Rochelle has been married to her husband James for 14 years and they have two boys, ages 7 and 9, and they live in South Texas.
